view a larger image view a larger image Apparently our area has an unmet need of high end rental properties, as The Reserve at Stoneport will be expanding their community off of Port Republic Road near Sentara RMH Medical Center. Current Community: 168 apartments Planned Expansion: 240 apartments Per the developer, the current inventory of apartments are 98 to 99 percent full, and the first apartments in the new phase will be available in late 2017. Rental rates will range from $985 - $1735 per month, and there were be even more one-bedroom units in the new phase....

Proposed Site of New Jail for Harrisonburg and Rockingham County |

Before we get to the details of this potential new facility, you may want to read up on this issue at Old South High.... A $60 million new jail by the landfill that's projected to reach capacity in seven years is the plan to fix overcrowding – that is, if it's actually a real plan at allNow, a few snippets about the proposed new facility, from today's Daily News Record article provide some insight into what this facility would be used for.... According to the planning study, the annex would "primarily be a minimum security, treatment and program based building" with 315 beds.A bit about the costs of the proposed new jail.... The total cost of the project is estimated at more than $63.26 million, half of which would come from the state and the rest split between the city and county.And it's possible future expansion.... The cost includes a possible future expansion of the new facility to accommodate an additional 385 beds — for a total of 700 — estimated to cost $5.78 million.And the timing of this potential project.... Officials aim to submit a corrections study to the state by the end of the year. With state approval expected to take roughly a year, officials are hoping to receive state funding for construction in 2016.Read more in today's Daily News Record article.... canstruction is coming to Harrisonburg |

This event will take place in April at the Shenandoah Valley Builders Association's Home & Garden Show. I took a quick ride through Preston Lake yesterday to see how things are looking.... The townhouses have been delivered! Well, at least the walls have. The townhouses will apparently be built with pre-framed walls. If you haven't already seen it, this is Preston Lake's model home. The upgraded entrances to Preston Lake are certainly looking good. There is even a new wall along Massanetta Springs Road that provides a bit more definition to the community. Finally, construction is almost complete on the bridge across the end of the expanded lake. Lakeview Development Corporation (who own and operate Lakeview Golf Course) are planning to build 76 townhouses and an Event Center on the edge of the golf course near the intersection of Massanetta Springs Road and Shen Lake Drive (as shown above). According to information compiled by Rockingham County staff: "The proposed development consists of townhouses along a curvilinear roadway that follows the topography of the site. A new access point from Massanetta Springs Road would be constructed and a traffic circle woudl be placed near the entrance to the new development."The proposed proffers offer some helpful details:
